Thirty patients with chronic low back pain were randomized to receive connective tissue massage (CTMG; n=10), classical massage (CMG; n=10), or standard physiotherapy (CG; n=10). The interventions were applied three times a week for four weeks. The primary outcome of interest was pain severity, assessed using the Visual Analog Scale. Secondary outcomes included lumbar mobility (Modified Schober Test), function (Back Pain Functional Scale), disability (Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire), and well-being (Short Form-36). Outcomes were assessed at baseline and after four weeks. Overall, the study revealed that all three groups showed significant improvements in pain, mobility, function, and disability. However, CTMG demonstrated superior improvements in lumbar mobility, and both massage groups had greater improvements in well-being compared to standard physiotherapy. These findings suggest that connective tissue massage may be particularly beneficial for improving lumbar mobility and overall well-being in patients with CLBP.
