Blood loss in computer-assisted mobile bearing total knee arthroplasty. A comparison of computer-assisted surgery with a conventional technique
Int Orthop. 2009 Dec;33(6):1609-13. Epub 2008 Sep 2.100 patients with gonarthrosis, who were undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA), were randomized to either a computer assisted total knee arthroplasty group (CAS-TKA) or a conventional TKA group. This trial was conducted to assess the CAS-TKA method's ability to reduce blood loss in comparison to the conventional TKA method. The results from this study indicated that CAS-TKA demonstrated a reduction in total blood loss, without producing a significant change in hemoglobin (Hb) or haematocrit loss compared to the conventional TKA method in post-operative measures.
