Comput Intell Neurosci. 2022 Aug 5;2022:4124354. doi: 10.1155/2022/4124354. eCollection 2022.. 2022 01-Aug;():. 10.1155/2022/4124354155 patients over the age of 65 diagnosed with a hip fracture were randomized to receive a peri-operative Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (n=70) or a routine peri-operative assessment (n=85). Outcomes of interest included operation rate within 48 hours of assessment, pre-operative waiting period, length of stay, the incidence of postoperative delirium, and the Bathel activities of daily living score. Results revealed that patients who underwent the Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment had a higher rate of surgery within 48 hours of assessment, shorter pre-operative waiting time, shorter length of hospital stay, and a lower rate of postoperative delirium vs. patients who received a routine peri-operative assessment.
