Effect of comprehensive nursing intervention on the formation of pressure sore in patients undergoing orthopaedic surgery in prone position.

One hundred twenty patients undergoing prone orthopaedic surgery were randomized to receive either comprehensive nursing intervention (n=60) or routine nursing intervention (n=60). The primary outcome of interest was the incidence and severity of pressure ulcers. Secondary outcomes included postoperative wound complications, anxiety and depression scores, pain levels, quality of life, and patient satisfaction. Outcomes were assessed over two weeks. Overall, the study found that comprehensive nursing intervention significantly reduced the incidence of pressure ulcers and postoperative complications, shortened recovery time, and improved anxiety, depression, pain, and quality of life scores compared to routine nursing. These findings suggest that a comprehensive nursing approach is effective in preventing pressure ulcers and enhancing postoperative recovery in prone orthopaedic surgery patients.
