Complication rates of bone marrow aspirate concentrate injections versus other injectable therapies for knee osteoarthritis: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Six randomized controlled trials, including 860 patients with knee osteoarthritis, compared the complication rates of bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) injections versus other injectable therapies such as hyaluronic acid, steroids, platelet-rich plasma, and saline. The pooled overall complication rates were 41.91% for BMAC and 41.25% for comparison groups. No significant differences were observed in early or late complications. The findings suggest that BMAC injections are not associated with higher complication rates compared to other injectable therapies, supporting their safety in treating knee osteoarthritis.
