Comparative clinical effectiveness of management strategies for sciatica: systematic review and network meta-analyses
Spine J. 2015 Jun 1;15(6):1461-1477122 studies were included in this systematic review and network meta-analysis to compare the clinical efficacy of 21 treatment options for sciatica. The purpose of this study was to compare treatment options for impact on global effect and pain. Pooled results favored epidural injections, disc surgery, and nonopioid medication compared to inactive controls and active comparators. Spinal manipulation, acupuncture, and biological agents also demonstrated significant effects on impression of global effect.
