Meta-analysis for dorsally displaced distal radius fracture fixation: volar locking plate versus percutaneous Kirschner wires

7 randomized controlled trials (875 patients) comparing volar locking plate and Kirschner wire fixation for dorsally displaced distal radius fractures were included in this meta-analysis. The purpose of the study was to compare clinical outcomes and complications between the two treatment methods after 1 year. Results indicated that volar locking plate fixation resulted in lower DASH scores and a lower risk of complications than K-wire fixation. Volar locking plates also provided better grip strength, range of flexion and range of supination at 6 months postoperatively.
