Absence of a Tourniquet Does Not Affect Fixation of Cemented TKA: A Randomized RSA Study of 70 Patients

OE Journal. 2016;4(9):1 J Arthroplasty. 2015 Dec;30(12):2128-3270 individuals undergoing unilateral total knee arthroplasty were randomized to the procedure either with or without the use of a pneumatic tourniquet. The purpose of this study was to determine if performing cemented TKA without a tourniquet had a significant effect on tibial implant fixation and extent of implant migration. Findings displayed no significant differences between groups in terms of tibial implant rotation and translation, and high quality fixation was maintained in both groups.
