Comparison of Local Infiltration Analgesia With Femoral Nerve Block for Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Prospective, Randomized Clinical Trial
J Arthroplasty. 2016 Jun;31(6):1361-5160 patients scheduled for total knee arthroplasty were randomized to postoperative analgesia through either local infiltration analgesia, consisting of morphine, ropivacaine, and betamethasone, or femoral nerve block. The purpose of this study was to compare analgesic outcomes over the first 3 days postoperatively, including pain scores and patient-controlled morphine consumption, and functional recovery within the first week and at 12 months postoperatively. Overall, no significant differences between groups were observed in any outcome assessed.
