In Vivo Kinematic Comparison Between Mobile-Bearing and Fixed-Bearing Total Knee Arthroplasty During Step-Up Activity

OE Journal. 2015;3(3):6 J Arthroplasty. 2014 Dec;29(12):2393-637 patients (40 knees involved) with osteoarthritis were randomized to receive either mobile-bearing or fixed-bearing total knee arthroplasty (TKA). This study examined weight-bearing kinematics of the knee at 1 year follow-up when performing step-up exercises in order to compare the two prostheses. Total extent of tibial rotation did not differ between the two groups, though the mobile-bearing group did demonstrated a wider range of axial rotation. Overall, there were minor kinematic differences between the two groups.
