Comparison of efficacy of intraarticular application of magnesium, levobupivacaine and lornoxicam with placebo in arthroscopic surgery

120 patients undergoing arthroscopic meniscectomy were randomized to either receive intraarticular magnesium sulphate, levobupivacaine, lornoxicam, or placebo (saline), to determine the efficacy of the drugs on postoperative pain. All three of theses treatments provided significant pain relief compared to placebo. Lornoxicam was the most effective at up to 48 hours.
