Internal fixation treatments for intertrochanteric fracture: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized evidence
Sci Rep. 2015 Dec 11;5:1819543 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) including 6911 patients undergoing surgical operations for intertrochanteric fractures were included in this meta-analysis and systematic review. The purpose of the study was to compare the effects of various internal fixation strategies for the treatment of intertrochanteric fractures. Findings indicated that the use of gamma nails appeared to increase the risk of cut out, re-operation, intra-operative and later fractures compared to sliding hip screws.
