No difference in patient-reported outcomes or range of motion between ultracongruent and posterior stabilized total knee arthroplasty: A randomized controlled trial.

Ninety-six patients with primary knee osteoarthritis were randomized to receive either ultracongruent (UC) total knee arthroplasty (TKA) (n=48) or posterior-stabilized (PS) TKA (n=48). The primary outcome was the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS), and the secondary outcome was knee range of motion (ROM). Outcomes were assessed preoperatively, at 3 months, and at 6 months postoperatively. Overall, the results revealed no statistically significant differences in KOOS or ROM between the groups at any follow-up point. These findings suggest that UC inserts are a viable alternative to PS inserts, with comparable short-term outcomes.
