Role of gracilis harvesting in four-strand hamstring tendon anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction: a double-blinded prospective randomized clinical trial
Knee Surg Sports Traumatol Arthrosc. 2015 Apr;23(4):1086-91129 patients with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear and undergoing surgical reconstruction were recruited for this randomized control trial. Patients were randomized to undergo 4 strand hamstring tendon reconstruction with either a semitendinosus (ST) autograft alone or in combination with a gracilis (G) autograft in the effort to evaluate differences in clinical outcomes resultant of the two techniques. Results demonstrated no significant differences in joint laxity, function, or hamstring isometric strength, or any of the other assessed outcomes up to 1 year postoperatively.
