Patellar reshaping versus resurfacing in total knee arthroplasty - Results of a randomized prospective trial at a minimum of 7 years' follow-up

OE Journal. 2013;1(11):30 Knee. 2012 Jun;19(3):198-202. Epub 2011 Apr 22133 patients with osteoarthritis (OA) requiring primary unilateral total knee arthroplasty (TKA) were randomized to receive one of the two surgical treatments. One group underwent patellar resurfacing, while the second group underwent patellar reshaping. Results demonstrated comparable outcomes in Knee Society scores, anterior knee pain, and radiograph results between the two procedures at the minimum 7-year follow-up.
