Effects of Combined Spinal Epidural Anesthesia in Orthopaedic Surgery of Elderly Patients
Comput Math Methods Med . 2022 Oct 13;2022:3523172.Forty patients over 60 years of age undergoing hip replacement or femoral head replacement surgery for femoral fractures were randomized to receive either a combined spinal epidural block anesthesia (n=20) or epidural anesthesia (n=20). Outcomes of interest were heart rate (HR), mean arterial pressure (MAP), pain, and complication rates after 24 hours. HR and MAP were significantly lower in the combined anesthetic group at time points T2 (30 min after operation), T3 (after operation), and T4 (15 min after operation). The VAS pain scores were significantly lower in the combined anesthetic group after surgery compared to the control group.
