2021 COA/CORS/CORA Annual Meeting: Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair – Defining the Optimal Surgical Technique and Rehabilitation Protocol – A Network Meta-Analysis of Randomized Control Trials

Twenty-eight randomized controlled trials including 2,181 patients undergoing an arthroscopic rotator cuff (RC) repair were included in this next work meta-analysis comparing single row repair, double row repair, and transosseous-equivalent/suture-bridge repair suture techniques in conjunction with an early or late post-operative mobilization protocol. Outcomes of interest included the incidence of re-tear, the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score, and range of motion. Results revealed that the use of transosseous-equivalent/suture-bridge repair or double row repair in conjunction with a late rehabilitation mobilization program significantly reduced the risk of re-tear. Moreover, double row repair plus early rehabilitation mobilization resulted in significant improvements in internal rotation vs single row repair plus early rehabilitation mobilization.
