2019 COA/ICORS Annual Meeting: Plantar Fasciitis: Intra-Lesional Steroid Injections versus Intra-Lesional Autologous Blood Injections

OE Journal. 2019;7(12):13180 patients with plantar heel pain due to plantar fasciitis were randomized to receive an autologous blood injection mixed with lidocaine or a corticosteroid injection into the heel for pain relief. The outcome of interest was pain assessed on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and measured 12 weeks post-treatment. The results of the study displayed a significantly lower pain score in the autologous blood injection group compared to the corticosteroid group at 12 weeks.
