Arthroscopic Versus Open Repair for Traumatic Anterior Shoulder Instability: A Meta-analysis
Data from 5 studies (n=265) was pooled to compare methods of surgical treatment of traumatic anterior shoulder instability, between arthroscopic repair and open repair. The evidence presented in this conference report demonstrated comparable results for recurrence of instability, strength, and shoulder function between the two interventions. Arthroscopic repair was associated with superior range of motion as compared to open repair, but heterogeneity was high for this outcome.
