2013 COA Annual Meeting: A Prospective Pilot Study of b2a-coated Ceramic Granules (Amplex) Compared to Autograft for Ankle and Hindfoot Arthrodesis

OE Journal. 2013;1(9):1824 patients undergoing foot and ankle arthrodesis surgery were randomized to receive either an autogenous bone graft or Amplex (containing B2A, a synthetic peptide), to compare the safety and efficacy of each treatment. Radiographic assessments demonstrated that fusion success rates were high and similar between both groups. Furthermore, from baseline to 12 months pain and disability Ankle Osteoarthritis Scale (AOS) scores improved similarly for both groups and there were no adverse events related to the graft material reported by any patients.
