COA-ACO2018: Long-term outcome of CoP versus CoC articulation in total hip arthroplast .
A Prospective Randomized Trial Comparing Alumina Ceramic-on-Ceramic with Ceramic-on-Conventional Polyethylene: 15 Year Follow-up
57 younger patients (under the age of 60) scheduled for total hip arthroplasty were randomized to either ceramic-on-polyethylene or ceramic-on-ceramic articulation. Patients were followed for 15 years after surgery. Revision rate and functional outcome were similar between groups after 15 years. Linear wear rate was significantly higher among the CoP group compared to the CoC group, though osteolysis was documented in only one patient of the CoP group.
