168 patients with humeral diaphyseal fractures were randomized to either open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF; n=84) or non-operative treatment (n=84). Outcomes of interest included range of motion and return to work at 4, 6, and 12 months following injury. The ORIF group presented with a significantly better range of motion and returned to work sooner after 12 months post-injury.
