2023 COA Annual Meeting: Arthroscopic Capsular Shift Surgery in Patients with Atraumatic Shoulder Instability: A Randomized Placebo-Controlled Trial

Adult patients with atraumatic shoulder instability were randomized to receive diagnostic arthroscopy or diagnostic arthroscopy followed by an arthroscopic capsular shift. The primary outcome of interest was pain and functional impairment, as measured by the Western Ontario Shoulder Instability Index. The results found no significant differences between the two groups at all time-points up to 24 months follow-up, suggesting no clinical benefit for pain and function with arthroscopic capsular shift performance.
