2022 COA Annual Meeting : The effect of implant type on re-operation rates following endoprosthetic reconstruction surgery

529 patients were included in this secondary analysis of the PARITY trial comparing cemented implants (n=396) and uncemented implants (n=133) in endoscopic reconstruction of a lower extremity primary bone tumour. The primary outcome of interest was all-cause revision at 1-year post-operation. Risk factors associated with all-cause re-operation were also explored. Results found no significant difference in all-cause re-operation between the two groups (p=0.952). Operative time and length of incision were found to be predictors of revision surgery. Patients who underwent surgery for a giant cell tumour or metastatic bone disease were at a lower risk of re-operation.
