COA 2022: Efficacy of Liposomal Bupivacaine for Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair .
Efficacy of Liposomal Bupivacaine in Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair: A Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials
Five RCTs (n=295 patients) were included in this meta-analysis comparing liposomal bupivacaine (n=148) vs. non-liposomal local anesthetic agents (n=147). The main outcomes that were analyzed were the postoperative visual analogue scale (VAS) pain scores and opioid consumption, measured in morphine milligram equivalents (MME). The results showed significant differences in the reduction of VAS pain scores and opioid consumption postoperatively with liposomal bupivacaine, particularly in the first 3 days post-operation.
