2020 COA Annual Meeting: Contact Kinematics of Total Knee Arthroplasty: Anatomical vs. Traditional Implant Designs (COA HSP1)

Forty-three patients were included in this matched, cohort study comparing knee kinematic outcomes in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty with either an anatomically designed Journey II implant or a traditionally designed Legion implant. Study outcomes at 3 months for the anatomical implant group and 2 years for the traditional implant group were compared. Results revealed that while the anatomical group displayed consistently more anterior contact medially and laterally compared to the traditional group, no significant differences in excursion, axial rotation, frequency of paradoxical anterior motion, or condylar separation were observed between the two groups.
