Radiographic analysis of one-level minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (MI-TLIF) with unilateral pedicle screw fixation for lumbar degenerative diseases

65 patients with degenerative lumbar spine disease were randomly assigned into 1 of 2 groups to compare the radiographic outcomes of one-level minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (MI-TLIF) with unilateral pedicle screw instrumentation to MI-TLIF with bilateral pedicle screw fixation, in patients with degenerative lumbar spine disease. The results of this study indicate that one-level unilateral pedicle screw instrumented minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (MI-TLIF) leads to similar radiological outcomes when compare to bilateral pedicle screw instrumented MI-TLIF, and that MI-TLIF with unilateral pedicle screw fixation is sufficient for the management of lumbar degenerative disease.
