2013 8th International Congress of the Chinese Orthopaedic Association : A meta-analysis of reamed versus unreamed intramedullary nailing for the treatment of closed tibial fractures

OE Journal. 2013;1(19):538 randomized and 1 quasi-randomized clinical trials examining 1229 closed tibial fractures in adults were pooled in this meta-analysis to compare reamed and unreamed intramedullary nailing. The results indicate that reamed intramedullary nails reduced nonunion, screw failure, implant exchange and dynamization; similar outcomes were found in delayed union, malunion, infection, compartment syndrome, or knee pain between groups.
