Clinical efficacy of botulinum toxin type A in the treatment of fasciitis pain: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Fourteen studies involving 537 patients with fasciitis were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis, comparing botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A) injections to placebo or other control treatments. The primary outcome measured was the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) for pain reduction, with secondary measures including functional and disability scores. Pooled results demonstrated a significant reduction in VAS pain scores for BoNT-A compared to controls (P < .00001). Subgroup analyses showed the most substantial effects in plantar fasciitis, followed by lumbar back and neck/shoulder fasciitis. The findings suggest BoNT-A is a promising therapeutic option for fasciitis pain.
