Chevron osteotomy and scarf osteotomy for hallux valgus angle and intermetatarsal angle correction .
Chevron osteotomy and scarf osteotomy for hallux valgus angle and intermetatarsal angle correction: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
J Orthop Surg Res. 2024 01-Sep;():. 10.1186/s13018-024-05007-0Six randomized controlled trials, including 507 feet affected by hallux valgus, were analyzed in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing chevron osteotomy to scarf osteotomy. The pooled outcomes included postoperative hallux valgus angle (HVA), intermetatarsal angle (IMA), AOFAS scores, and complication rates. Results demonstrated that chevron osteotomy provided significantly smaller postoperative HVAs, while there were no significant differences in IMA, AOFAS scores, or complication rates. These findings suggest that chevron osteotomy may be more effective for correcting HVA but does not differ significantly from scarf osteotomy in other clinical or complication outcomes.
