A meta-analysis of cervical arthroplasty compared to anterior cervical discectomy and fusion for single-level cervical disc disease

8 studies were selected to compare the safety and efficacy of anterior cervical arthroplasty and anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) in treatment of single-level cervical radiculopathy and myelopathy. Based on the pooled results, cervical arthroplasty indicated better visual analog scale (VAS) scores, overall success rates, neurological success rates, and fewer incidences of reoperations. No differences were seen between the two procedures in neck disability index (NDI) scores, number of adverse events, or radiological success rates.
