Clinical Efficacy of Celecoxib Compared to Acetaminophen in Chronic Nonspecific Low Back Pain: Results of a Randomized Controlled Trial

OE Journal. 2017;5(20):24 Arthritis Care Res (Hoboken). 2016 Jun;68(6):845-5250 patients with non-specific low back pain (LBP) were randomized to receive either 200mg celecoxib twice a day or 500mg acetaminophen twice a day. The purpose of this study was to compare the clinical outcomes and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scores of the two treatments. Findings indicated a greater reduction of total back pain, Oswestry Disability Index scores, Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index scores, nocturnal back pain, and patient global assessment in the celecoxib group compared to the acetaminophen group.
