160 patients with knee osteoarthritis, undergoing total knee arthroplasty were randomized to receive either pregabalin + celecoxib (n=40), celecoxib alone (n=40), pregabalin alone (n=40), or placebo (n=40). Outcomes of interest included pain at rest and with movement on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS), sufentanil cumulative dose, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), range of motion (ROM), and the incidence of postoperative complications. Pain, opioid use, hs-CRP levels, and ROM were assessed up to 48 hours with ROM being assessed at 72 hours as well. Overall, the use of pregabalin + celecoxib for managing postoperative pain, improving ROM, decreasing opioid use, and reducing the hs-CRP levels showed superiority over placebo and celecoxib or pregabalin alone.
