Celecoxib Decreases the Need for Rescue Analgesics after Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Meta-Analysis.

Six randomized controlled trials including 482 patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing celecoxib versus placebo. Pooled outcomes of interest included postoperative pain at rest, ambulation, and active range of motion, rescue analgesic intake, and adverse effects. The pooled results showed that celecoxib significantly reduced the need for rescue analgesics. The main findings suggest that celecoxib effectively decreases the need for additional analgesics post-surgery, potentially improving patient recovery and comfort.
