The effects of different dressings on the skin temperature of the knee during cryotherapy
Knee. 2005 Jan;12(1):21-318 healthy volunteers were randomized to receive cryotherapy with either no dressing, thin adhesive dressing, or bulky dressings. Over 2 hours, the bulky dressing group demonstrated a significantly smaller decrease in mean skin temperature than the no dressing and thin adhesive dressing groups. Study, therefore, concluded that bulky "wool and crepe" dressing diminished the cooling action of cryotherapy,while thin adhesive dressing did not.
