Conservative treatment of Rockwood type III acromioclavicular joint separation: a randomized controlled trial sling vs. brace.

Thirty-five adult patients with Rockwood III acromioclavicular joint separation were randomized to receive conservative treatment either with a brace (n=18) or a sling (n=17). Outcomes of interest included Subjective Shoulder Value (SSV), American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score, Constant Shoulder Score, Coracoclavicular (CC) index, and the incidence of adverse events at 1, 6, and 12 weeks post-treatment. CC-index, SSV, ASES, and Constant Shoulder scores were similar between both of the groups at all time points.
