52 children were randomized to examine whether the addition of botulinum toxin A prior to cast treatment was effective in managing idiopathic toe-walking. Patients were treated with either 4 weeks of below-the-knee casts alone or 4 weeks of cast treatment 1 to 2 weeks following botulinum toxin A injections into the calves. The assessment at 12 months revealed that botulinum toxin A injections with cast treatment did not improve any of the gait parameters when compared to cast treatment alone.
