Efficacy of bisphosphonates against osteoporosis in adult men: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

9 randomized controlled trials, including 2464 patients, were included is this meta-analysis and systematic review, for the purpose of analyzing the efficacy of bisphosphonate therapy compared to placebo in males with osteoporosis. Results showed that bisphosphonates were effective in reducing the incidence of new vertebral and non-vertebral fractures, reducing serum bone turnover biomarkers, and in increasing lumbar spine, femoral neck, and total hip bone mineral density at up to 24 months follow-up.
