High Impact
This study has been identified as potentially high impact. OE's AI-driven High Impact metric estimates the influence a paper is likely to have by integrating signals from both the journal in which it is published and the scientific content of the article itself. Developed using state-of-the-art natural language processing, the OE High Impact model more accurately predicts a study's future citation performance than journal impact factor alone. This enables earlier recognition of clinically meaningful research and helps readers focus on articles most likely to shape future practice.

Platelet-Rich Plasma Has Better Long-Term Results Than Corticosteroids or Placebo for Chronic Plantar Fasciitis: Randomized Control Trial

J Foot Ankle Surg. 2019 Jan;58(1):42-46. doi: 10.1053/j.jfas.2018.07.006
Contributing Authors

SH Shetty A Dhond M Arora S Deore

90 patients with plantar fasciitis were randomized to one of three injection options: platelet rich plasma, corticosteroid (methylprednisolone), or placebo. Patients were assessed for outcome related to pain on a visual analog scale and function on the Roles and Maudsley score from 1 week to 18 months post-injection. At 1 week, corticosteroid injection demonstrated favourable pain and function scores compared to PRP injection, while at 12 and 18 months, PRP injection demonstrated significantly favourable pain and function score compared to corticosteroid injection.
