Epub 2011 Feb 11To compare the outcomes of robotic-assisted and conventional total knee arthroplasty, 30 patients undergoing bilateral sequential total knee replacement were randomized to receive robotic assisted implantation in one knee and conventional implantation in the other. After a year of evaluations, robot assisted TKA showed better radiographic leg alignment with similar clinical outcomes in range of motion and WOMAC scores. The procedure, however, took longer time, but reduced blood loss significantly.
