High Impact
This study has been identified as potentially high impact. OE's AI-driven High Impact metric estimates the influence a paper is likely to have by integrating signals from both the journal in which it is published and the scientific content of the article itself. Developed using state-of-the-art natural language processing, the OE High Impact model more accurately predicts a study's future citation performance than journal impact factor alone. This enables earlier recognition of clinically meaningful research and helps readers focus on articles most likely to shape future practice.

Randomized Trial Comparing Suture Button with Single Syndesmotic Screw for Syndesmosis Injury

J Bone Joint Surg Am. 2018 Jan 3;100(1):2-12

97 patients with an acute syndesmotic injury were randomized to surgical stabilization with either a suture button device or a syndesmotic screw. Patients were followed-up for results on function, pain, and radiological outcome over a 2-year follow-up. Results demonstrated that the suture button device was significantly favoured over a syndesmotic screw for functional outcome from 6 months to 2 years, for dynamic pain scores from 1 year to 2 years, and the rate of malreduction (ie. loss of reduction in tibiofibular distance) in the anterior and central areas of the syndesmosis within 1 year of surgery.
