Platelet rich plasma versus hyaluronic acid in patients with hip osteoarthritis: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
Int J Surg. 2018 May;53:279-287Four randomized controlled trials were selected for inclusion in this meta-analysis which compared results in hip osteoarthritis treatment between platelet-rich plasma injections and hyaluronic acid injections. Data on patient-reported pain and function scores were pooled at 2, 6 and 12 months post-injection. The only significant difference observed between the injections was a significantly lower pain at 2 months post-injection among PRP group compared to HA groups; all other outcomes at all other time points demonstrated no statistically significant differences between groups.
