Above- or below-elbow casts for distal third forearm fractures in children? A meta-analysis of the literature
Arch Orthop Trauma Surg. 2011 Dec;131(12):1663-71. doi: 10.1007/s00402-011-1363-9. Epub 2011 Aug 5Three trials (300 patients) were identified to examine whether above or below-elbow cast was the most optimal conservative treatment for fractures of the distal third forearm. This meta-analysis concluded that below-elbow cast (BEC) was not inferior to above-elbow cast (AEC) and could be considered a valid treatment option for distal third forearm fractures.
