96 adults aged 65+ who were diagnosed with osteoporosis and displayed an increased fear of falling were randomized to receive either balance training (BT) alone, in combination with physical activity (PA), or were placed in a control group for a period of 12 weeks. The primary aim of this randomized control trial (RCT) was to determine whether the interventions improved fall-related self-efficacy outcomes in addition to other risk factors contributing to the risk of falling. It was found that while balance training did improve outcomes, the role of the additional PA could not be adequately determined due to all patients maintaining regular activity.
