Efficacy of axillary nerve block in elbow arthroscopic surgery: a randomized trial
J Shoulder Elbow Surg. 2014 Mar;23(3):291-6. doi: 10.1016/j.jse.2013.11.022. Epub 2014 Jan 15.36 patients undergoing arthroscopic elbow surgery under general anesthesia were randomized to receive an axillary nerve block or local anesthetic injection, with the purpose of comparing early functional outcomes between groups. During the first 48 hours post-operation, pain at rest and during physiotherapy, the number of required loxoprofen tablets, and mean patient satisfaction did not significantly differ between the axillary nerve block and local anesthetic groups.
