Does taping in addition to physiotherapy improve the outcomes in subacromial impingement syndrome? A systematic review
Physiother Theory Pract. 2018 Apr;34(4):251-263Four studies - three randomized trials and one nonrandomized trial - which investigated the effect of the addition of taping to physiotherapy versus physiotherapy alone in the treatment of subacromial impingement were included in this systematic review. Due to clinical heterogeneity, a meta-analysis was unable to be performed. For most outcome measures, including pain at rest, pain on movement, patient-reported disability, and range of motion, there was at least one study which provided data in support of taping versus control. Nonetheless, there was no outcome measure that demonstrated consistently significant results in favour of taping among the studies which reported data on that particular outcome.
