Arthroscopic Transosseous Anchorless vs Single-Row Anchor Repair for Small–Medium Supraspinatus Tear .
Outcomes of arthroscopic rotator cuff repair via single-row anchor technique versus transosseous anchorless technique: A randomized controlled trial.
J Clin Orthop Trauma . 2025 Feb 18:64:102951.Sixty-two patients with small–medium full-thickness supraspinatus tears were randomized to single-row suture-anchor repair (n=31) or arthroscopic transosseous anchorless repair (n=31). The primary outcomes were ASES, OSS, and shoulder ROM at last follow-up, plus sonographic healing at 1 year; secondary outcome was implant cost. Follow-up was 24–39 months (means ~28–29). Overall, the results of the study revealed similar gains in ROM and similar final ASES and OSS between groups, and comparable sonographic healing, while implant costs were significantly lower with transosseous repair. In short, anchorless transosseous repair achieved equivalent clinical and structural outcomes to single-row anchors at substantially lower implant cost.
