Medial Plica Syndrome of the Knee: Arthroscopic Plica Resection versus Structured Physiotherapy-A Randomized Controlled Trial
Surg J (N Y) . 2022 Sep 19;8(3):e249-e256.Forty-eight patients with medial plica syndrome were randomized to receive an arthroscopic plica resection (n=24) or structured physiotherapy (n=24). Outcomes of interest included Lysholm scores, Kujala anterior knee pain scores, Visual Analog Scale (VAS) pain scores, and quality of life scores (extracted from the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcomes Score), measured at 3, 6, 12 and 24 months follow-up. Significantly better Lysholm scores, Kujala scores, and quality of life scores were observed with resection vs. physiotherapy at 2 years follow-up only.
