Does arthroscopic acromioplasty provide any additional value in the treatment of shoulder impingement syndrome? A 2-year Randomized Control Trial
J Bone Joint Surg Br. 2009 Oct;91(10):1326-34.140 patients suffering from stage two shoulder impingement were randomized to receive arthroscopic acromioplasty in combination with an exercise program or receive just an exercise program. This trial assessed the efficacy of arthroscopic acromioplasty for the treatment of shoulder impingement. The results from this trial indicated that arthroscopic arcomioplasty in combination with an exercise program did not provide any additional benefits when compared to the exercise group alone.
