Aquatic Therapy versus Standard Rehabilitation after Surgical Rotator Cuff Repair: A Randomized Prospective Study.
Biology (Basel). 2022 01-Apr;():. 10.3390/biology1104061086 patients who underwent an arthroscopic rotator cuff repair were randomized to receive 3 months of aquatic-based therapy (n=44) or standard land-based therapy (n=42). The outcomes of interest included range of motion (active forward flexion; external rotation), the Single Assessment Numeric Evaluation (SANE) score, the Constant score, pain on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS), the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score, the Simple Shoulder Test (SST) score, duration of workstop, tendon healing, and patient satisfaction. Outcomes were assessed at 1.5, 3, 6 and 24 months post-operation. Results revealed no significant differences between the two therapy programs in all outcomes at all time-points.
